(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Musaddad narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, he said: Mansur bin al-Mu'tamir narrated to us from al-Sha'bi from al-Bara bin Azib, may Allāh be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ gave us a sermon after the prayer on the day of Nahr, so he said: Whoever prayed as we pray and offered sacrifice as we offer sacrifice has performed the worship correctly, and whoever offered the sacrifice before the prayer, that is the meat of a goat. Then Abu Burdah bin Niyar, may Allāh be pleased with him, stood up, so he said: O Messenger of Allāh! By Allāh, I offered the sacrifice before going to the Eid prayer, and I knew that today is a day of eating and drinking, so I offered the sacrifice quickly, and I ate myself, and fed my family, and fed my neighbours. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: That is the meat of a goat. He said: I have a kid, and it has more meat than two goats — will it suffice on my behalf? He said: Yes! But it will never suffice for anyone after you.
