Imam Bukhari narrates: Musaddad narrated to us, he said: Hammad narrated to us from Abdul Aziz bin Suhaib and Thabit al-Bunani from Anas bin Malik, may Allāh be pleased with him, he relates that
the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed the Fajr prayer while it was still dark, then he mounted and shouted: Allāhu Akbar! Khaybar is destroyed! When we arrive in the courtyard of a people, then the morning of those who have been warned is evil. Then the people of Khaybar came out running in the streets, saying: Muhammad (ﷺ) and "Khamis"! And "Khamis" means an army. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ overcame them, he killed those who fought, and took captive (the women and) children. Dihyah al-Kalbi took Safiyyah, then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ took Safiyyah from him, then married her, and made her freedom her mahr. So Abdul Aziz said to Thabit: O Muhammad! Did you ask Anas what her mahr was? He said: Her mahr was her own self. Then he smiled.
