Imām Bukhārī narrates: Yahyā ibn Sulaimān narrated to us, he said: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, he said: Yūnus narrated to us, from Ibn Shihāb, from Hamzah ibn 'Abdullāh, that he was informed by his father that when the pain of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ became severe, he was asked about the prayer, so he said: Command Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer. 'Ā'ishah said: Abū Bakr is tender-hearted; when he recites the Qur'ān, he will begin to weep. He said: Command him to lead the prayer. 'Ā'ishah said it again. He said: Command Abū Bakr to lead the prayer; indeed you are (like) the women of the time of Yūsuf.
Al-Zubaidī has corroborated Yūnus ibn Yazīd, and the nephew of al-Zuhrī, and Ishāq ibn Yahyā al-Kalbī, from al-Zuhrī, and 'Uqail and Ma'mar said, from al-Zuhrī, from Hamzah, from the Prophet ﷺ.
