that we were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ in the mosque when a person came riding upon a camel. He made the camel sit down in the mosque, then he tied it, then he said to the Companions: Which of you is (Sayyidunā) Muhammad ﷺ? At that time the Prophet ﷺ was sitting among the Companions, leaning. We said: This fair-faced person who is leaning. Then that person said to him: Are you the son of 'Abdul-Muttalib? The Prophet ﷺ said: I have already answered you. So that person said to the Prophet ﷺ: I am going to question you and I will be strict with you in questioning; do not be angry with me in your heart. He said: Ask whatever comes to your heart. He said: I ask you by your Lord and by the Lord of those before you: Has Allāh truly sent you as a messenger to all people? He said: O Allāh! Yes! He said: I ask you by Allāh: Has Allāh truly commanded you that we should pray five prayers in the day and the night? He said: O Allāh! Yes! He said: I ask you by Allāh, has Allāh truly commanded you that we should fast in this month of the year? He said: O Allāh! Yes! He said: I ask you by Allāh, has Allāh truly commanded you that you take charity (sadaqah) from our wealthy people and distribute it among our poor? The Prophet ﷺ said: O Allāh! Yes! That person said: I have believed in what you have brought, and I am, behind me, the messenger (representative) of my people, and I am Dimām ibn Tha'labah, who is the brother of Banū Sa'd ibn Abī Bakr.

(Imām Bukhārī says): This hadith has been narrated by Mūsā and 'Alī ibn 'Abdul-Hamīd, from Sulaimān, from Thābit, from Anas, may Allāh be pleased with him, from the Prophet ﷺ.
