Imam Bukhari narrates: Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, he said: Shu'aib informed us from al-Zuhri, he said: Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar and Abu Bakr bin Abi Hathmah narrated to me that Abdullah bin Umar, may Allāh be pleased with them both, said that
the Prophet ﷺ prayed the Isha prayer at the end of his life, when he turned the salam, he stood up and said: Tell me, which night of yours is this? Because after a hundred years, none of those who are (alive) today will remain upon the face of the earth.
Ibn Umar said: The people made a mistake in understanding this statement of the Prophet ﷺ, until they began to say various things in interpreting the hundred years. And the Prophet ﷺ had only said that the people who are alive on the earth now, after a hundred years none of them will remain alive, his intention was that after a hundred years this generation (century) will remain upon the face of the earth.
