Imām Bukhārī narrates: Ibrāhīm ibn Hamzah narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abī Hāzim and al-Darāwardī narrated to us, from Yazīd, from Muhammad ibn Ibrāhīm, from Abī Salamah ibn 'Abdur-Rahmān, from Abū Hurairah, may Allāh be pleased with him, he narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying:

Tell me, if there were a river at the door of any one of you, and he washed in it five times every day, what would you say — would this washing leave any dirt remaining on his body? The Companions said: This would leave no dirt on his body at all. He said: This is the example of the five prayers; Allāh erases sins by means of them.
