Imām Bukhārī narrates: Qutaibah ibn Sa'īd narrated to us, he said: 'Abbād narrated to us, and he is Ibn 'Abbād, from Abī Jamrah, from Ibn 'Abbās, may Allāh be pleased with them both, he narrated that:
the delegation of 'Abd al-Qais came into the presence of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. They said: We are from this tribe of Rabī'ah, and we can reach you only in the sacred months; command us to something which we may take from you and to which we may invite those who are behind us. Then he said: I command you to four things and forbid you from four things: belief in Allāh — then he explained it to them: bearing witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allāh, and that I am the Messenger of Allāh, and establishing prayer, and giving zakāh, and that you give to me a fifth of the spoils of war. And I forbid you from (drinking in) hollow gourds, green jars, vessels coated with tar, and hollow wood.
