Imam Bukhari narrates: Abdullah bin Maslamah narrated the hadith to us. He said: I recited upon Imam Malik, from Ibn Shihab, that
one day Umar bin Abdul Aziz delayed the prayer. Then Urwah bin Az-Zubair came to him and informed him that Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah had delayed the prayer one day, and he was in Iraq at that time. Then Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari, may Allāh be pleased with him, came to him and said: O Mughirah! What time is this? Do you not know that Jibrīl descended, then he prayed, so the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed; then he prayed, so the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed; then he prayed, so the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed; then he prayed, so the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed; then he prayed, so the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed. Then he said: I have been commanded with this matter.
Then Umar bin Abdul Aziz said to Urwah: Understand! What hadith are you narrating? Did Jibrīl fix the time of prayer for the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ? Urwah said: Bishir bin Abi Mas'ud used to narrate in the same way from his father, may Allāh be pleased with him.
