Imam Bukhari narrates: Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Suhaib narrated to us, from Anas (may Allāh be pleased with him), that
the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ fought in Khaibar; we prayed the morning prayer near Khaibar while it was still dark. Then the Prophet ﷺ mounted, and Abu Talhah mounted, and I was sitting on the mount behind Abu Talhah (may Allāh be pleased with him). Then the Prophet ﷺ made the horse run in the lanes of Khaibar, and indeed my knee was touching the thigh of the Prophet ﷺ. Then he removed the waist-wrap from his thigh until I was seeing the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet ﷺ. Then when he entered the settlement, he said: Allāhu Akbar! Khaibar is ruined. Indeed, when we reach the settlement of a people, then how bad is the morning of those who have been warned. He said these words three times. The people of Khaibar came out for their work, then they said: Muhammad (the narrator) 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated, and some of our companions said: and al-khamis, meaning the army. Then we conquered Khaibar through fighting. Then the captives were gathered. Then Dihyah came and said: O Messenger of Allāh! Give me one female captive from among the captives. He said: Go! Take a female captive. He took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Prophet of Allāh! You gave Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, who is the chief of Banu Quraizah and Banu Nadir; she is fitting only for you. He said: Bring Dihyah with her. Dihyah came with her. Then when the Prophet ﷺ looked at her, he said: Take any other female captive besides her. Then the Prophet ﷺ freed her and married her. Thabit said to Anas: O Abu Hamzah! What was the mahr of Safiyyah? He said: She herself was; he freed her and married her (he made her freeing her mahr), until when he was on the way, Umm Sulaim (may Allāh be pleased with her) prepared her (made her a bride), then took her to the Prophet ﷺ at night. The Prophet ﷺ was a bridegroom in the morning. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever has anything (of food) should bring it, and a leather dastarkhwan was spread out. Then someone brought dates, and someone brought ghee, and I think sattu was mentioned. Then they made hais (a kind of sweet dish), and this was the walimah of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
