(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Ubaid bin Isma'il narrated to us, he said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Hisham, from his father, from Hazrat Aisha (may Allāh be pleased with her), she said:
We set out on the first day of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah, and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: Whoever wishes to enter into ihram for Umrah should do so, because if I had not sent the Hady, I too would have entered into ihram for Umrah. So some of the Companions entered into ihram for Umrah, and some entered into ihram for Hajj, and I was among those who entered into ihram for Umrah. Then the Day of Arafah found me in a state that I was menstruating; I complained of this to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: Leave your Umrah, and undo the hair of your head and comb it, and enter into ihram for Hajj. So I did this. Then when the night of Al-Hasbah came, he sent my brother Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr with me; so I went to the place of Tan'im, then I entered into ihram for Umrah in place of my (previous) Umrah.
Hisham said: Nothing was required in it — no Hady, no fasting, no charity.
