(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Abdullah bin Yusuf narrated the hadith to us, he said: Imam Malik informed us, from Abdullah bin Yazid and Abi al-Nadr, the freed slave of Umar bin Ubaidullah, from Abi Salamah bin Abdur Rahman, from Hazrat Aishah Umm al-Mu'minin (Allāh be pleased with her), that
the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to offer prayer sitting, so he ﷺ would recite the Qur'an sitting, then when about thirty or forty verses remained of his ﷺ recitation, he ﷺ would stand up and recite those verses standing, then he ﷺ would perform ruku, then perform sujud, and he ﷺ would offer the second rak'ah in the same way, then when he ﷺ finished the prayer, he ﷺ would look, so if I was awake, he ﷺ would talk with me, and if I was asleep, he ﷺ would lie down.
