(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Qutaibah ibn Sa'īd narrated to us, he said: Hammād ibn Zaid narrated to us, from Yūnus, from al-Hasan, from Abī Bakrah, may Allāh be pleased with him, he narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:
The sun and the moon are among the signs of Allāh; they are not eclipsed because of anyone's death, nor because of anyone's life, but Allāh the Exalted frightens His servants by means of it.
And Abū 'Ubaidullāh said: 'Abdul-Wārith, Shu'bah, Khālid ibn 'Abdullāh, and Hammād ibn Salamah did not mention, from Yūnus, that Allāh frightens His servants by means of them. And Yūnus has been corroborated by Ash'ath, from al-Hasan, and this has also been corroborated by Mūsā, from Mubārak, from al-Hasan, he said: Abū Bakrah informed me, from the Prophet ﷺ, that Allāh the Exalted frightens His servants by means of them.
