Sub-Chapter (Baab)

Sahih Al Bukhari 98

Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Sulaymān ibn Ḥarb narrated to us; he said: Shu’bah narrated to us, from Ayyūb. He said: I heard ‘Aṭā’ say:

I heard Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allāh Almighty be content with him) say: “I bear witness concerning the Prophet ﷺ”—or ‘Aṭā’ said: “I bear witness concerning Ibn ‘Abbās”—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out, and Bilāl was with him. He thought that he had not made the women hear the admonition, so he admonished them and instructed them to give charity. Then the women began to throw their earrings and rings (into Bilāl’s garment), while Bilāl was holding up the edge of his cloth.

And Ismā’īl [ibn ‘Ulayyah] said: from Ayyūb, from ‘Aṭā’, who said: “I bear witness concerning Ibn ‘Abbās that he bore witness concerning the Prophet ﷺ.”
