(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Adam narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Zubaid narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Sha'bi from al-Bara bin Azib, may Allāh be pleased with him, he said that the Prophet ﷺ said:

The first thing we do on this day of ours is that we pray, then we return, then we perform the sacrifice. So whoever does this has attained our Sunnah. And whoever performed the sacrifice before the prayer, that is only meat which he has presented for his family, it has no part in the worship. Then a man from the Ansar stood up, whose name was Abu Burdah bin Niyar, he said: O Messenger of Allāh! I have already slaughtered, and I have a kid, six months old, which is better (more fattened) than a one-year-old goat. He said: Slaughter it in its place, and it will not suffice for anyone after you.
