(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Sa'id bin Abi Maryam narrated to us, he said: Abu Ghassan narrated to us, he said: Abu Hazim narrated to me, from Hazrat Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
there lived among us a woman. She had made a bed on the bank of a canal in which beetroots were sown. On the day of Friday she would take out the roots of the beetroot and put them in a pot, and put a handful of ground barley into it, and those beetroot roots would take the place of meat. When we would return after praying the Friday prayer, we would greet her. That woman would offer us that food. We would eat it licking our fingers. We used to long for the day of Friday because of that food.
