Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Muḥammad ibn al-‘Alā narrated to us; he said: Abū Usāmah narrated to us from Burayd from Abī Bardah

from Abū Mūsā al-Ash’arī (may Allāh Almighty be content with him) that some questions were asked of the Prophet ﷺ regarding certain things he disliked. When he was asked repeatedly, he became discontent. Then he ﷺ said to the people: “Ask me whatever you wish.” A person asked: “Who is my father?” He ﷺ replied: “Your father is Ḥudhāfah.” Then another stood up and asked: “O Messenger of Allāh, who is Amīrā’s father?” He ﷺ replied: “Your father is Sālim.” A freed slave of Shibbah said: When ʿUmar saw the signs of discontentment on the Prophet’s face, he said: “O Messenger of Allāh! We turn to Allāh, the Exalted and Majestic, in obedience.”
