(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Ismail bin Aban narrated the hadeeth to us, he said: Ibn Al-Ghasil narrated the hadeeth to us, he said: Ikrimah narrated the hadeeth to us, from Hazrat Ibn Abbas, Allāh be pleased with them both, he said:
the Prophet ﷺ climbed onto the pulpit, and this was the last gathering in which he sat. At that time he had placed a large sheet upon his shoulders and had tied a turban upon his head which had become greasy with oil. He praised Allāh and glorified Him, then he said: O people! Come near to me! So the people came towards him, then he said: "Amma ba'd" (after praise and glorification), this tribe of the Ansar will keep decreasing, and (other) people will keep increasing. So whoever, from the ummah of (Sayyiduna) Muhammad ﷺ, holds any position, and has authority to cause harm to someone or to give benefit to someone, then he should accept the goodness of the good ones among the Ansar, and overlook the fault of the faulty ones among them.
