(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Mahmud said: Abu Usamah narrated the hadeeth to us, he said: Hisham bin Urwah narrated the hadeeth to us, he said: Fatimah bint Mundhir informed me, from Hazrat Asma bint Abi Bakr, Allāh be pleased with her, she says that

I went to Hazrat Ayesha, Allāh be pleased with her, at that time the people were praying. I asked: why are the people praying? Hazrat Ayesha, Allāh be pleased with her, pointed with her head towards the sky (i.e., the sun had been eclipsed). I asked: is this some sign? Hazrat Ayesha pointed with her head, meaning yes. Hazrat Asma said: then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prayed a very long prayer, until unconsciousness began to overcome me, and beside me was a waterskin in which there was water. I opened it and began pouring water from it onto my head. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ turned from the prayer, and by that time the eclipse of the sun had passed. Then he delivered a sermon and praised Allāh the Exalted with praise befitting Him. Then he said: "Amma ba'd" (after the praise and glorification). And the women of the Ansar were making noise; I turned towards them so that I could quieten them, so I asked Hazrat Ayesha what he had said. Hazrat Ayesha said: he said that whatever thing had not been shown to me before, I have seen that thing in this place, even the Paradise and the Hell I have seen also. And indeed, this has been revealed to me that indeed you will be put to trial in the graves, which will be like the trial of the Maseeh Dajjal or close to it. Someone will be brought to each one of you, then it will be said: what is your knowledge about this person? So whoever is a believer, or whoever is one who has certainty (Hisham is unsure which word Hazrat Asma used), he will say: this is the Messenger of Allāh, this is Muhammad ﷺ, he came to us with miracles and guidance, so we believed in him and we accepted his call and we followed him and we affirmed him. Then it will be said to him: sleep with the benefit of your deeds; indeed we knew that you were one who would believe in him. And as for the hypocrite, or he said: the one who doubts (Hisham is unsure about this), it will be said to him: what is your knowledge about this person? He will say: I do not know, I heard the people saying something, so I said it.

Hisham said: Fatimah narrated this hadeeth to me, so I kept this hadeeth preserved, except for that part in which severity was shown.
