(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Ahmad narrated to us, he said: Abdullah bin Wahb narrated to us, he said: Amr bin al-Harith informed me, from Ubaidullah bin Abi Ja'far, that Muhammad bin Ja'far bin al-Zubair narrated to him, from Urwah bin al-Zubair, from Hazrat Ayesha, wife of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, she says that

the people used to come from their homes and from the high settlements around Madinah, taking turns, to offer the Friday prayer. They used to come walking in dust, dust and sweat would come upon them a great deal, then sweat would come out from their bodies. So one of them came to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam, at that time he was with me, so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: I wish you people would take a bath for this day.
