(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Muhammad ibn Kathīr narrated to us, he said: Sufyān informed us, from Ibn Abī Khālid, from Qais ibn Abī Hāzim, from Abū Mas'ūd al-Ansārī, may Allāh be pleased with him, he narrates that:
a person said: O Messenger of Allāh! I cannot attend the prayer (in congregation) because such-and-such a person makes the prayer long. So I never saw the Prophet ﷺ more angry in giving exhortation than on that day. He said: O people! You cause aversion (in the worshippers)! So whoever leads the people in prayer should lead it with lightness, because among the worshippers there are the sick, the weak, and those who have some necessary task to attend to.
