(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Muhammad ibn Abī Bakr narrated to us, he said: Mu'tamir narrated to us, from 'Ubaidullāh, from Sumayy, from Abī Sālih, from Abū Hurairah, may Allāh be pleased with him, he narrates that:

the poor came to the Prophet ﷺ. They said: The wealthy people have taken away the high ranks and the everlasting Paradise because of their wealth. They pray as we pray, and fast as we fast, and their extra worship due to their wealth is that they perform Hajj, and 'Umrah, and jihād, and give sadaqāt. He said: Shall I not tell you an action, such that if you do that action, you will attain the rank of those who have gone ahead of you, and no one after you will be able to attain your rank, and you will become the best in your time except those who do that same action as you: recite "Subhān Allāh," "Al-hamdu lillāh," and "Allāhu Akbar" thirty-three () times after every prayer. Then a difference arose among us; we said: We will say "Subhān Allāh" and "Al-hamdu lillāh" thirty-three, thirty-three times each, and "Allāhu Akbar" thirty-four times. Then I returned to him, so he said: You should say "Subhān Allāh," "Al-hamdu lillāh," and "Allāhu Akbar," each of these thirty-three times.
