(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Qutaibah ibn Sa'īd narrated to us, he said: Laith narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Abī Habīb, from Abī al-Khair, from 'Abdullāh ibn 'Amr, from Abū Bakr al-Siddīq, may Allāh be pleased with him, he narrated that:

I said to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: Teach me some du'ā' which I may recite in my prayer. He said: Say this: O Allāh! I have greatly wronged my own soul, and none forgives sins except You, so grant me forgiveness from Yourself, and have mercy upon me; indeed You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
