(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Yahyā ibn Bukair narrated to us, he said: Laith narrated to us, from Khālid, from Sa'īd, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn Halhalah, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn 'Atā'. And Laith narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Abī Habīb and Yazīd ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn Halhalah, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn 'Atā', he narrated that:
he was sitting with a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, so we mentioned the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ. Then Abū Humaid al-Sā'idī, may Allāh be pleased with him, said: I remember the manner of the prayer of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ better than all of you. I saw him: when he said "Allāhu Akbar," he would raise his two hands level with his shoulders; and when he performed rukū', he would firmly place his hands upon his knees, then he would bend his back; and when he raised his head from rukū', he would stand straight, until every joint returned to its place; then when he performed sajdah, he would place his two hands upon the ground, neither spreading them out nor drawing them in, and he would keep the toes of his feet directed towards the qiblah; then when he sat after two rak'ahs, he would sit upon his left foot and raise his right foot; and when he sat in the last rak'ah, he would put his left foot forward and raise the other foot, and sit upon his sitting-place (buttocks).
This hadith has been heard by Laith from Yazīd ibn Abī Habīb, and Yazīd from Muhammad ibn Halhalah, and Ibn Halhalah from 'Atā'. And Abū Sālih heard from Laith in this way: that every joint returned to its place. And Ibn al-Mubārak has narrated from Yahyā ibn Ayyūb: Yazīd ibn Abī Habīb narrated to me that Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to him this hadith, in which every joint is mentioned.
