(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Ādam narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, he said: I heard Abū Wā'il, he said:
A man came to Ibn Mas'ūd, may Allāh be pleased with him. He said: Today I recited al-Mufassal (some sūrah from Sūrat Muhammad to the end of the Qur'ān) in one night. Ibn Mas'ūd said: You must have recited it hastily, like poetry. I know the pairs of sūrahs which the Prophet ﷺ used to recite joined together. Then he recited twenty sūrahs from al-Mufassal, two sūrahs in each rak'ah.
