Sahih Al Bukhari 705

(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Ādam ibn Abī Iyās narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Muhārib ibn Dithār narrated to us, he said: I heard Jābir ibn 'Abdullāh al-Ansārī, may Allāh be pleased with them both, he narrated that:

a man came with two water-carrying camels; at that time the night had spread its arms. He found Mu'ādh, may Allāh be pleased with him, leading the prayer. He left his camel and went towards Mu'ādh. Mu'ādh began Sūrat al-Baqarah or Sūrat al-Nisā'. That man went away (back). This news reached Mu'ādh, so he became angry with that man. That man came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and complained about Mu'ādh. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: O Mu'ādh! Are you a great fitnah-causer? Or he said: Are you a fitnah-causer? He said this three times. Why did you not recite these sūrahs: "Sabbihisma Rabbika al-A'lā", "Wash-shamsi wa duhāhā", "Wal-laili idhā yaghshā"? Because behind you there pray the elderly, the weak, and those with needs.

(Shu'bah said:) I think that this (last sentence) is also in this hadith. Imām Abū 'Abdullāh (Bukhārī) said: Sa'īd ibn Masrūq, Mis'ar, and al-Shaibānī have corroborated Shu'bah. 'Amr, and 'Ubaidullāh ibn Miqsam, and Abū al-Zubair have narrated from Jābir that Mu'ādh recited Sūrat al-Baqarah in 'Ishā'. In this hadith, al-A'mash has corroborated Shu'bah, from Muhārib.
