((Imām Bukhārī narrates) that) Musaddad narrated to us, he said: Bishr narrated to us, he said: Ibn 'Awn narrated to us, from Ibn Sīrīn, from 'Abdur-Rahmān ibn Abī Bakrah, from his father, that:

the Prophet ﷺ was sitting upon his camel, and a person was holding its rein or bridle. He said: Which day is today? We remained silent. We thought that he would soon give it a name other than its own name. He said: Is today not the day of sacrifice? We said: Why not! He said: Which month is this? We remained silent, until we thought that he would soon give it a name other than its own name. Then he said: Is this not the month of Dhū al-Hijjah? We said: Why not! He said: Your blood, and your wealth, and your honours are forbidden among yourselves, just as this day, in this month, and in this city is forbidden. It is upon the one who is present to convey this hadith to the one who is absent, because it may be that the one who is present conveys this hadith to a person who remembers this hadith more than he does.
