Imām Bukhārī narrates: 'Ubaidullāh ibn Ismā'īl narrated to us, from Abī Usāmah, from 'Ubaidullāh, from Nāfi', from Ibn 'Umar, may Allāh be pleased with them both, he narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: When the night meal of any one of you is set before him, and (at the same time) the iqāmah for prayer is given, begin with the meal, and do not hurry for the prayer until you finish the meal. And for Ibn 'Umar, may Allāh be pleased with them both, food would be set, and at the same time the iqāmah for prayer would be given, but he would not go for the prayer until he had finished the meal, even though he could hear the voice of the imām reciting the Qur'ān at that time.
