Sub-Chapter (Baab)

Sahih Al Bukhari 66

Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates that Ismāʿīl related to us; he said: Imām Mālik narrated to me from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, that Abū Marrah—the freed slave of ʿAqīl ibn Abī Ṭālib—told him,

from Abū Wāqid al-Laythī, that: While the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was sitting in the mosque with the people, three men came. Two of them came forward toward the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, while one went away. The two stood near the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One of them saw an open space in the circle and sat there; the other sat behind the gathering; and the third turned his back and left. When the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ finished, he said: “Shall I not inform you about these three men? As for one of them, he sought refuge with Allāh, so Allāh gave him refuge. As for the second, he showed reluctancy, so Allāh will show reluctancy toward him. And as for the third, he turned away, so Allāh will turn away from him.”
