Imam Bukhari narrates: Abdullah bin Yusuf narrated to us, he said: Imam Malik informed us from Abi al-Zinad from al-A'raj from Abu Hurairah, may Allāh be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:

By the One in Whose hand and power my soul is! Indeed I intended to command a man to collect firewood, and let it be collected, then I would command the prayer, so the Adhan be given for the prayer, then I would command a man to lead the people in prayer, then I would look at those who stayed behind (and did not come to pray), then I would burn down their houses upon them. And by the One in Whose hand and power my soul is! If any one of them knew that he would find a bone with meat on it or two good trotters, he would certainly be present for Isha.
