In the explanation of "Do not move your tongue with it (the Qur'an) in haste (to memorize it)" (Al-Qiyamah: 16), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to suffer hardship in attaining the Noble Qur'an, and he used to move his lips. {Hazrat Ibn Abbas said: "I move my lips for you the way the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to move his lips." And Saeed said: "I move my lips the way I saw Hazrat Ibn Abbas move his lips." Then he moved his lips.} Then Allāh the Exalted sent down these verses: "Do not move your tongue with it (the Qur'an) in haste (to memorize it)." (Al-Qiyamah: 16) Hazrat Ibn Abbas said: That is, gathering this Qur'an in your chest and your reading of it (is Our responsibility). "So when We have recited it, then follow that recitation." (Al-Qiyamah: 18) Hazrat Ibn Abbas said: (During Jibril's recitation) you listen and remain silent. "Then explaining it for you is Our responsibility." (Al-Qiyamah: 19) —that is, then your reading of it is Our responsibility. After that, when Hazrat Jibril would come, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would listen attentively; then when Hazrat Jibril would go away, the Prophet ﷺ would recite the Qur'an in the same way Hazrat Jibril had recited.
