Imām Bukhārī narrates: Ayyūb ibn Sulaimān narrated to us, he said: Abū Bakr narrated to us, from Sulaimān, he said that Sālih ibn Kaisān said: Ibn Shihāb informed me, from 'Urwah, from 'Ā'ishah, may Allāh be pleased with her, she narrated that:

(one night) the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ delayed the 'Ishā' prayer, until 'Umar, may Allāh be pleased with him, said in a loud voice: Prayer (come out)! The women and children have fallen asleep. Then he came out and said: No one else upon the whole face of the earth besides you is waiting for this prayer. And in those days, prayer was not performed anywhere except Madīnah. And he used to delay the prayer, after the disappearance of the (whiteness of the) twilight, until the first part of a third of the night.
