Imām Bukhārī narrates: Yahyā ibn Bukair narrated to us, he said: Laith narrated to us, from 'Uqail, from Ibn Shihāb, from 'Urwah, that 'Ā'ishah, may Allāh be pleased with her, informed him, she narrated that:
one night the Prophet ﷺ delayed the 'Ishā' prayer greatly, and this was at the time when the rulings of Islām had not spread. He did not come out of the house, until 'Umar said that the women and children had fallen asleep. Then he came out of the house and said to the people of the mosque: No one else upon the face of the earth is waiting for this prayer except you.
