Imām Bukhārī narrates: 'Abdul-'Azīz ibn 'Abdullāh narrated to us, he said: Ibrāhīm narrated to me, from Ibn Shihāb, from Sālim ibn 'Abdullāh, from his father, he informed him that he heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying:

Your remaining span among the nations before you is like the time from the 'Asr prayer to the setting of the sun. The people of the Tawrāh were given the Tawrāh, so they worked until when it was midday, then they became tired, then they were given a qīrāt each. Then the people of the Injīl were given the Injīl, so they worked until the 'Asr prayer, then they became tired, so they were given a qīrāt each. Then we were given the Qur'ān, so we worked until the setting of the sun, so we were given two qīrāts each. Then the people of the two Books said: O our Lord! You gave them one qīrāt each, and You gave us two qīrāts each, although we did more work? Allāh, Mighty and Glorious, said: Have I diminished anything from your reward? They said: No. Allāh said: Then this is My grace; I grant it to whom I will.
