(Imam Bukhari narrates that) Al-Hasan bin As-Sabbah narrated to us, he heard from Ja'far bin Aun, he said: Abu Al-Umais narrated to us, he said: Qais bin Muslim informed us, from Tariq bin Shihab, from Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allāh be pleased with him), that

a man from the Jews said: O Commander of the Believers! There is a verse in your Book, which you all recite; if that verse had been revealed to us Jews, we would have made that day a festival. Hazrat Umar asked: Which verse is that? He said: "Today I have perfected for you your religion, and completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." (Al-Ma'idah: ) Hazrat Umar said: We know both the day and the place where this verse was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ; at that time he was standing on a Friday in the plain of Arafat.
