Sahih Al Bukhari 3385

Al-Rabī' ibn Yaḥyā al-Baṣrī narrated to us; Zā’idah narrated to us; from 'Abd al-Malik ibn ‘Umayr;

from Abū Burdah ibn Abī Mūsā; from his father, who said: The Prophet ﷺ became ill and said: “Tell Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer.” She (Lady ‘Ā’ishah) said: “Indeed, Abū Bakr is a man…” So, he repeated the instruction, and she repeated her response. Then, he said: “Tell him to do so, for you are like the women of (the Prophet) Yūsuf.” So, Abū Bakr led the prayer during the physical lifetime of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.

Ḥusayn said, from Zā’idah: “He is a tender-hearted man."
