Qays ibn Ḥafṣ and Mūsā ibn Ismā’īl narrated to us; they said: ‘Abd al-Wāḥid ibn Ziyād narrated to us; Abū Qurrah, Muslim ibn Sālim al-Hamdānī, narrated to us. He said: ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Īsā narrated to me; he heard ‘Abd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā say:

Ka’b ibn ‘Ujrah met me and said, “Shall I present to you a gift that I heard from the Prophet ﷺ?” I said, “Yes, present it to me.” He said: We asked the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allāh, how should we send blessings upon you, O people of the household? For indeed Allāh has taught us how to send salām (greetings) upon you.” He said: “Say: O Allāh, send blessings upon Muhammad (ﷺ) and upon the family of (the Prophet) Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim (upon whom be peace) and upon the family )ﷺ( of (the Prophet) Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allāh, bless Muhammad and the family of (the Prophet) Muhammad, just as You blessed Ibrāhīm (upon whom be peace) and the family of (the Prophet) Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.”
