Isḥāq ibn Naṣr narrated to me, Abū Usāmah narrated to us, from al-A’mash, who said: Abū Ṣāliḥ narrated to us,

from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allāh be content with him), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “Allāh Almighty will say: ‘O Ādam (upon whom be peace).’ He will say: ‘Here I am at Your service and at Your command, and all good is in Your Hands (of Power).’ He will say: ‘Bring forth the people of the Fire.’ He will say: ‘What is the people of the Fire?’ He will say: ‘From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.’ At that moment, the child will turn grey, every pregnant one will miscarry her child, and you will see the people as if intoxicated, though they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allāh is severe.’” They said, “O Messenger of Allāh, which of us will be that one?” He said: “Rejoice! For from you will be one, and from Gog and Magog will be a thousand.” Then, he said: “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I hope that you will be one- quarter of the people of Paradise.” So, we proclaimed the takbīr. Then, he said: “I hope that you will be one-third of the people of Paradise.” So, we proclaimed the takbīr. Then he said: “I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise.” So, we proclaimed the takbīr. Then, he said: “You, among the people, are like a black hair on the hide of a white bull, or like a white hair on the hide of a black bull.”
