Sahih Al Bukhari 3340

Isḥāq ibn Naṣr narrated to me; Muḥammad ibn ‘Ubayd narrated to us; Abū Ḥayyān narrated to us; from Abū Zur’ah;

from Abū Hurayrah (may Allāh be content with him), who said: We were with the Prophet at a meal, and the foreleg (of meat) was presented to him — and he used to like it — so he ﷺ took a bite from it and said: “I will be the leader of the people on the Day of Resurrection. Do you know why? Allāh will gather the first and the last on one plain, so that the onlooker will see them all and the caller will make them all hear. The sun will draw near to them, and some people will say to one another: ‘Do you not see what you are in and what has befallen you? Will you not look for someone to intercede for you with your Lord?’ Some people will say: ‘Your father Ādam (upon whom be peace).’ So, they will go to him and say: ‘O Ādam (upon whom be peace), you are the father of mankind. Allāh created you with His Hand (of Power), breathed into you from His spirit, commanded the Angels and they prostrated to you, and settled you in Paradise. Will you not intercede for us with your Lord? Do you not see what we are in and what has reached us?’ He will say: ‘My Lord is wrathful today with a wrath the like of which He has never had before and will never have after. He forbade me from the tree, but I disobeyed Him (due to an error of judgement). I am worried about myself, I am worried about myself! Go to someone else; go to Nūḥ (upon whom be peace).’ So they will go to Nūḥ (upon whom be peace) and say: ‘O Nūḥ (upon whom be peace), you are the first of the Messengers to the people of the earth, and Allāh named you a grateful servant. Do you not see what we are in and what has reached us? Will you not intercede for us with your Lord?’ He will say: ‘My Lord is wrathful today with a wrath the like of which He has never had before and will never have after. I am worried about myself, I am worried about myself! Go to the Prophet ﷺ.’ So, they will come to me, and I will prostrate beneath the Throne. Then, it will be said: ‘O Muḥammad (ﷺ), raise your head. Intercede, and your intercession will be accepted; ask, and you will be given.’”

Muḥammad ibn ‘Ubayd said: I do not remember the rest of it.
