Sub-Chapter (Baab)

Sahih Al Bukhari 31

(Imam Bukhari narrates that) Abdur Rahman bin Al-Mubarak narrated to us, he said: Hammad bin Zaid narrated to us, he said: Ayyub and Yunus narrated to us, from Al-Hasan, from Al-Ahnaf bin Qais, he said:

I went to help this person (Hazrat Ali, may Allāh be pleased with him), and I met Hazrat Abu Bakrah (may Allāh be pleased with him); he asked me: Where are you headed? I said: I will help this person. He said: Go back, because I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying: When two Muslims fight each other with their swords, both the killer and the killed will be in the Fire. I said: O Messenger of Allāh! This is the killer, but what is the reason for the killed (being in the Fire)? He said: He too was eager to kill his companion.
