Sahih Al Bukhari 2

(Imam Bukhārī said:) ʿAbd Allāh bin Yūsuf narrated to us, he said: Mālik informed us, from Hishām bin ʿUrwa, from his father, from Hazrat ʿĀʾisha, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), that

Al-Ḥārith bin Hishām (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he said: "O Messenger of Allah! How did revelation come to you?" Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Sometimes revelation comes to me like the ringing of a bell, and that is most hard upon me; then when that revelation ends from me, I have already remembered what the angel said. And sometimes the angel takes the form of a man for me, so he keeps speaking to me, and I keep remembering what he is saying."

Hazrat ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: "Indeed, I saw that on a severely cold day, revelation would descend upon him, then at the time the revelation ended from him, sweat would be flowing from his forehead."
