Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Khālid ibn Makhlad narrated to us; he said: Sulaymān narrated to us; he said:

ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyā narrated to me from his father, who said: My uncle used to perform wuḍūʾ frequently. He said to ʿAbdullāh ibn Zayd رضي الله عنه: “Tell me how you saw the Prophet ﷺ perform wuḍūʾ.” He (ʿAbdullāh ibn Zayd) called for a basin of water and poured water over his hands, then washed them three times. Then he put his hand into the basin, took a handful of water, rinsed his mouth and nose three times. Then he put his hand into the basin again, took water in his hand, and washed his face three times. Then he washed his arms up to the elbows twice each. Then he took water in his hand and wiped his head, moving his hands backward and then bringing them forward. Then he washed both his feet and said: “This is how I saw the Prophet ﷺ perform wuḍūʾ.”
