Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Abū al-Yamān narrated to us; he said: Shu’ayb informed us, from al-Zuhrī, who said: ‘Ubaydullāh ibn ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Utbah informed me that

‘Ā’ishah - may Allāh Almighty be content with her - said: When the Prophet ﷺ became seriously ill and his pain intensified, he sought permission from his wives to spend the days of his illness in my house. They granted him permission. The Prophet ﷺ then came out supported between two men, and his feet were dragging on the ground, leaving lines. He was between al-‘Abbās - may Allāh Almighty be content with him - and another man. ‘Ubaydullāh said: I informed ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās - may Allāh Almighty be content with both of them - about this. He said, “Do you know who the other man was?” I replied, “No.” He said, “It was ‘Alī (may Allāh Almighty be content with him).” ‘Ā’ishah - may Allāh Almighty be content with her - used to say that when the Prophet ﷺ entered the house, his pain became more severe. He said: “Pour over me water from seven water-skins whose ties have not been untied, so that I may go out and advise the people.” He was seated in a large tub that belonged to his wife Ḥafṣah (may Allāh Almighty be content with her). We continued pouring water over him from those water-skins until he indicated to us that we had done enough. Then he went out to the people.
