Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Sulaymān ibn Ḥarb narrated to us; he said: Wuhaib narrated to us; he said: ‘Amr ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us, from his father, who said:
I was with ‘Amr ibn Abī Ḥasan when he asked ʿAbdullāh ibn Zayd - may Allāh Almighty be content with him - about the wuḍūʾ (ablution) of the Prophet ﷺ. He called for a large vessel of water and performed wuḍūʾ in front of them. He poured water from the vessel onto his hands and washed them three times. Then he put his hand into the vessel and took three handfuls of water, rinsing his mouth and putting water into his nose three times. Then he put his hand into the vessel and washed his face three times. Then he put his hand into the vessel and washed both of his arms up to the elbows twice each. Then he put his hand into the vessel and wiped his head, moving his hands from the front to the back, then bringing them back from the back to the front. Then he put his hand into the vessel and washed both of his feet. And Mūsā narrated to us; he said: Wuhaib narrated to us, and he mentioned that he wiped his head once.
