Al-Imām al-Bukhārī - upon whom be mercy - narrates: Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Makkī related to us; he said: ‘Amr ibn Abī Sa’īd ibn ‘Amr al-Makkī related to us, from his grandfather,

from Abū Hurayrah (may Allāh Almighty be content with him), who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ went out to relieve himself, and I followed behind him. He ﷺ would not turn his gaze right or left. When I came close to him, he ﷺ said: “Bring me stones so that I may cleanse myself with them, and do not bring me bones or dung.” I brought the stones in the corner of my garment and placed them beside him, then I turned away from him. When he ﷺ had finished relieving himself, he did Istinjā’ with those stones.
