Sub-Chapter (Baab)

Sahih Al Bukhari 152

Al-Imām al-Bukhārī - upon whom be mercy - narrates: Muḥammad ibn Bashshār related to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Ja’far related to us; he said: Shu’bah related to us, from ‘Aṭā’ ibn Abī Maymūnah, who said:

I heard Anas ibn Mālik - may Allāh Almighty be content with him - say: Whenever the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ would enter the place of relieving himself, I and another young boy would carry with us a leather water-skin and a spear. He ﷺ would then cleanse himself with water.

It is further noted that al-Naḍr and Shādhān corroborated this narration from Shu’bah. The ‘anzah refers to a short spear or staff tipped with an iron point.
