Sub-Chapter (Baab)

Sahih Al Bukhari 140

Narrated by Al-Imām al-Bukhārī (upon whom be mercy): Muhammad ibn ‘Abdur-Raḥīm reported to us, he said: Abu Sulaymah al-Khaz’ī, Mansūr ibn Sulaymah, informed us; he said: Ibn Bilāl, that is Sulaimān, narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam, from ‘Atā ibn Sayyār,

from Ḥazrat Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allāh Almighty be content with him) that he said: “The Prophet ﷺ performed Wudū’ by washing his face first. Then he took one handful of water, washed his mouth and rinsed his nose. He then took another handful of water and did the same again. He washed the other hand in the same manner, then washed his face with it. Next, he took one handful of water and washed his right hand, then another handful to wash his left hand. He then wiped his head, and with one handful of water, washed his right foot until it was thoroughly cleansed. With another handful, he washed his left foot. I have seen the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ performing Wudū’ in this very manner.”
