Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm al-Ḥanẓalī narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq informed us; he said: Maʿmar informed us from Hammām ibn Munabbih that

he heard Abū Hurayrah -may Allāh Almighty be content with him - say that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “The prayer of a person whose ablution has been nullified is not accepted until he performs ablution.” A man from Ḥaḍramawt said: “O Abū Hurayrah, what is ḥadath (that which invalidates Wuḍūʾ)?” He replied: “The passing of wind, whether without sound or with sound.”
