Sahih Al Bukhari 131

Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Ismā’īl narrated to us; he said: Imām Mālik narrated to me, from ‘Abdullāh ibn Dīnār,

from ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allāh Almighty be content with him), that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Among the trees there is a tree whose leaves do not fall, and it is like a Muslim. Tell me which tree it is.” The people began thinking of the trees of the wilderness, while it occurred to me that it was the date-palm. But I felt reluctant (to speak). The Companions said: “O Messenger of Allāh, tell us which tree it is.” The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “It is the date-palm.” ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar said: “I later told my father what had occurred to me, and he said: ‘Had you said it at that moment, it would have been dearer to me than receiving such-and-such (a great amount).’”
