Sahih Al Bukhari 112

Al-Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Abū Nu’aym al-Faḍl ibn Dukayn narrated to us; he said: Shaybān narrated to us, from Bayān, from Abū Salamah,

from Abū Hurayrah (may Allāh Almighty be content with him): In the year of the Conquest of Makkah, Khuza’ah killed a man from Banū Layth in retaliation for one of their own who had been killed. The Prophet ﷺ was informed of this. He mounted his riding animal and delivered a sermon. He said: “Indeed, Allāh restrained Makkah from the elephant,” or he said, “from the Elephant” (Abū ‘Abdullāh – al-Imām al-Bukhārī – was unsure), “and He granted authority over it to His Messenger and to the believers. Listen! Makkah was not made lawful for anyone before me, nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me. It was only made lawful for me for a single hour of a day. Now its sanctity has returned as it was yesterday. Its thorns are not to be cut, its trees are not to be felled, and lost property is not to be picked up except by one who makes a public announcement. Whoever has someone killed has the choice between two options: either blood-money is paid to him, or retaliation (qiṣāṣ) is carried out.” Then a man from the people of Yemen came and said: “O Messenger of Allāh, write this for me.” He said: “Write it for Abū so-and-so.” Then a man from Quraysh said: “O Messenger of Allāh, except for idhkhir (a type of grass), for we use it in our houses and our graves.” So the Prophet ﷺ said: “Except for idhkhir.”

Al-Imām Abū ‘Abdullāh (al-Bukhārī) said: “Yuqādu” is read with a tā’. He was then asked: “What was written?” He replied: “This sermon was written.”
