(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Muhammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, he said: Ghundar narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abī Ishāq, he said: I heard from al-Aswad, from 'Abdullāh, may Allāh be pleased with him, he narrated that:

the Prophet ﷺ recited Sūrat al-Najm in Makkah and performed sajdah in it, and the people who were with him also performed sajdah, except one elderly man; he took some pebbles or some soil in his hand, then placed it upon his forehead and said: This is sufficient for me. 'Abdullāh ibn Mas'ūd said: I saw afterwards that he was killed in a state of kufr.
